Encapsulated PSA/DNA Type 3. Offered is a 1924 original news service photo of Babe Ruth holding up child star Jackie Coogan on his bat during a barnstorming game held in California. In the weeks following the 1924 World Series, Babe Ruth and several other star players embarked on a west coast barnstorming tour of several cities. Walter Johnson, fresh off his WS win was the other big name on the tour, which also included a stop in Hollywood and a visit to the set of the film The Thief of Bagdad. Somewhere along the way, little Jackie Coogan made an appearance, and ended up on the end of Ruth's bat! The photo is a Type 3, created by a duplicate negative in the period. The photo measures 5 x 7 7/8 inches and presents with several tears that have been repaired with tape on the reverse and some cracking to the gloss finish. The reverse also presents with pencil notations and a “March 13 PAID” stamping. Excellent condition.
