Offered is a pristine, unsullied example of the 1929 program for the first ever World Series games at Wrigley Field. This program would have been used for both Games 1 and 2, both losses for the Cubs who were outgunned by the superior Philadelphia Athletics. The A's featured Al Simmons, Lefty Grove and slugger Jimmie Foxx, who hit three balls out of Wrigley in those first two games. Apparently the fan who purchased the offered, unscored relic couldn't bring himself to put pencil to paper but instead safely squirreled away the program for our later generation to enjoy. The Cubs did take Game 3 in Philly, but ultimately lost the series 4-1, with no Games 6 or 7 at the Friendly Confines. The program features portraits of each team's players, including Kiki Cuyler, Woody English, Charlie Grimm and Hack Wilson for the Cubbies. The unscored program presents with its original binding tassel and only the most minor distresses, with slight scuffing to the cover and very slight toning to the extreme borders of the back cover. The interior pages are extremely clean and bright. Near Mint to Mint overall.
