This group of 21 copies of LIFE magazine hale from the period after 1936, when Time publisher Henry Luce bought LIFE. Luce essentially only wanted its title so he could re-invent the publication. Life became the first all-photographic American news magazine, and it dominated the market for several decades. The magazine sold more than 13.5 million copies a week at one point. This collection includes: September 19, 1938, November 21, 1938, February 13, 1939 (Norma Shearer), August 1939, October 9, 1939, April 14, 1941, June 2, 1941, October 13, 1941 (Clark Gable and Lana Turner), April 27, 1942 (Nelson Rockefeller), March 2, 1942 (Ginger Rogers), April 13, 1942, August 3, 1942, August 10, 1942, November 16, 1942, November 23, 1942, November 30, 1942, January 4, 1943, February 8, 1943, February 21, 1944, September 23, 1946. Very Good to Excellent condition, with a few lesser.
