The offered photograph features Cubs greats Gabby Hartnett and Charlie Grimm, and its back stampings indicate it was taken at a pre-season practice at Wrigley Field on April 13, 1939, just eight days prior to the season opener. Hartnett, in his first season as a retired player, was just beginning his tenure as Cubs manager, replacing his former teammate and manager Grimm. The photograph measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with editorial markings and some mild airbrushing to create contrast in the printed newspaper, most-likely the Chicago Sun-Times. Near Mint condition.
