1955 DeSoto Memphis State Yearbook Featuring Elvis Presley, Tony Curtis, George Klein and Wink Martindale

Offered is a hardback copy of The DeSoto, the Memphis State Yearbook from 1955, which features a photo of Elvis Presley, as well as his friend George Klein. The book belonged to another 1953 Humes High graduate, Tommy Young, whose name is monogrammed on the front of the yearbook. Tommy remained close with George after high school, and would later tour with Elvis during 1957 and 1958. He can be seen in many photos from those concerts. On page 184, Elvis is pictured with Memphis Mayor Tobey who “demonstrates his versatility” by strumming a guitar. Klein and classmate Wink Martindale are among the other Sophmore students pictured on page 201, and on page 146 we see budding star Tony Curtis judging the “DeSoto Beauty Contest” from his studio bungalow in Hollywood. The book measures 9 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches and presents with a cover with little wear and some moderate staining to the first few pages. Excellent to Mint condition.
