While the processing date printed in the border of these two photos states "MAY 57," they capture Elvis Presley during his pre-concert press conference on March 31 of that year, at Detroit's Olympia Stadium. By this time in his career, Elvis was completely at ease in from of a crowded room of reporters, as we see in these two images. His relaxed and affable posture are indicative of a young star now in complete control of his situation. (The following offering in this auction presents a group of photos of Elvis PERFORMING that night-check it out!) The photographs both measure 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. Both are printed on era-appropriate "KODAK VELOX PAPER." One photo is almost completely free of distresses (Near Mint), and the other has two large vertical creases from being folded down to fit in a wallet, most likely. Serendipitously, neither crease touches Elvis' image. Excellent condition.
