Offered is a beautiful photo of Elvis Presley in full U.S. Army uniform and helmet at Fort Hood, Texas during his basic training in 1958. Photos of Elvis in similar versions of his military uniform are dated to April 1958, which would make this photo from very early in his service. The shot is incredibly clear with excellent contrast; most snapshots of this ilk normally suffer in these attributes. Elvis served his two year tour in the Army with distinction, and returned to his career without missing a beat. He worried that his fans would forget him and the world may pass him by--both unfounded fears, as we all know. In this photo, taken with almost the full two years of his hitch yet to go, his face may be betraying some of those feelings, as he appears a bit pensive and lacking his normal confidence. The photo measures 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch,, is printed on era-appropriate KODAK VELOX PAPER, and presents with few serious defects. Near Mint condition.
