Viva Las Vegas is considered by many to be one of Elvis’ best films, highlighted by legendary songs and a natural chemistry between its two stars, Elvis and Ann-Margret. The fast-paced, adventurous plot of the film and the upbeat soundtrack makes for a fun ride for the audience. Fifteen songs were recorded for the film with only nine used in the movie and only six issued as singles. Offered is a collection of eight "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures" 78 RPM acetates containing 9 songs from the film recorded in July and August 1963 at Radio Recorders studios in Hollywood. Each label presents with the film's production number "1812" and the title of the song, which appears on both sides. The acetates include:
- Disc 1: Dated "August 15 1963", "Viva Las Vegas" vocal by Elvis Presley;
- Disc 2: Dated "September 5, 1963", "The Climb" (by George McFadden) and "What'd I Say?" vocal by Elvis Presley;
- Disc 3: Dated "August 6, 1963", "The Yellow Rose of Texas" vocal by Elvis Presley;
- Disc 4: Dated "September 3, 1963", "What'd I Say" vocal by Elvis Presley;
- Disc 5: Dated "August 6, 1963", "The Lady Loves Me" vocal by Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret`;
- Disc 6: Dated "August 1, 1963", "C'mon on Everybody" vocal by Elvis Presley;
- Disc 7: Dated "September 4, 1963", "Somebody to Lean On" vocal by Elvis Presley; and
- Disc 8: Dated "August 9, 1963", "Today, Tomorrow and Forever" vocal by Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret.
This is a remarkable collection of production acetates from one of Elvis' most iconic and beloved films. Acetates regularly show up in ones and twos, but it is rare to see a group this large containing so many of the songs from the recording sessions. The records all present with studio and production-related grease pencil markings in the dead wax areas and in playable condition. All maintain their original envelopes. VG+ condition overall with some scuffing and scratches.
