Offered are a pair of rarely seen 1963 Las Vegas Flamingo Hotel “Daily Movie Diary” sheets alerting guests to hotel locations being used during filming of Viva Las Vegas. The first “Daily Movie Dairy” sheet is dated Monday, July 22 and informs guests that they have the “opportunity to enjoy the cool refreshment of the sparkling blue water” of the pool to be made available to guests at 11:30 a.m. and encourages them to enjoy the afternoon shooting session beginning at 12:30 p.m. until the pool is theirs again after 4 p.m. While other hotel activities are listed, the filming notes consume most of the daily diary. The second “Daily Movie Diary,” dated July 23, 1963, thanks guests for their cooperation the previous day and outlines similar times for the pool’s availability and additional notes on the filming of the day, including a synopsis of the movie, what costume Elvis can be seen in that day and informing guests that they will be treated to the singing voices of the stars.

Location filming in Vegas started on July 15, 1963 and continued through July 26th, after which filming moved to Los Angeles. Elvis plays the main character Lucky and his co-star Rusty was played by Ann-Margret. Filming took place in multiple Vegas venues including The Sahara Hotel, where the cast and crew stayed, a drag strip in the Henderson suburb, University of Nevada gymnasium, McCarran airport, Lake Mead Marina, a skeet shooting range at the Tropicana Hotel and the swimming pool of the Flamingo Hotel. The “Daily Movie Diary” sheets each measure 11 by 8 1/2 inches and present with little wear. Near Mint condition.
