The offered complete set of 36 1983 MLBPA pinbacks includes a ton of Hall of Famers, and it is often cited as an unauthorized issue though the pins list “©1969 MLBPA MFG. In U.S.A.” along their edges. They are distinguished from the 60-pin 1969 MLBPA set which had the team names on the top and player names on the bottom, as well as “Winona Minn” on the credit line. The set includes 18 players from each league, with National League in red and American League in blue. Highlights include Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Satchel Paige, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Sandy Koufax, Willie Mays and Jackie Robinson. The group presents in EX condition, technically, based on the various levels of oxidation to backs, but this wildly undervalues the beautiful, intact fronts of the pins that are almost all devoid of any major distresses. A very nice set.
