The offered pair of news service photos were taken of Elvis Presley on the day of his pre-induction draft physical. The newsroom writing on the reverse of the first photo, which shows Elivs being assisted with the day's necessary paperwork, reads “Ann Welch (2) & Elvis Presley 1/5/1957.” The date is most-likely the publication date of the photo, because it was January 4, 1957, when Elvis reported to the Veterans Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee for his pre-induction physical to establish his draft status for the military. The second photo, with the doctor that performed Elvis' physical exam, has newsroom writing on the reverese which includes “Elvis Presley & Dr. Leonard B. Glick 1/5/57.” We can almost guarantee that the venerable Dr. Glick didn't stop a single other potential draftee for a photo that day. The photos measure 8 x 10 inches. Both present with some areas of paper losson the borders, expected newsroom markings and writing, edge wear with some cracks and small tears, but the photos remains with bold contrast. Excellent condition.
