Elvis loved jewelry and often his spirituality affected the gems he chose; some were chosen for not only their visual appeal, but also for their intrinsic meanings and perceived powers. The offered Sterling silver and green bloodstone ring (with flecks of red) was owned by Elvis Presley and gifted to his cousin Patsy Presley. According to gem enthusiasts, bloodstone is an excellent blood cleanser and a powerful healing stone. It heightens intuition and increases creativity. It is grounding and protecting. Bloodstone draws off negative environmental energy, helping to overcome influences such as geopathic or electromagnetic stress. The ring was one of a number of items that were in one of Elvis' jewelry boxes that was given to Patsy. She in turn, sold the jewelry box, including this ring to longtime Elvis collector Tom Salva. This handsome ring comes with a letter from Tom that states, “The item listed and shown above has been in my personal Elvis Presley collection since 1988. I purchased this item, and many others, from Patsy Presley, Elvis Presley’s cousin who worked as secretary in the offices at Graceland for many years during Elvis’ career. The item was originally from a jewelry box from Elvis’ bedroom dresser. I purchased the jewelry box and all its contents from Patsy in 1988. While it didn’t contain any of Elvis’ ornate jewelry with diamonds and gold, etc., it did contain many rings, watches, money clips, cuff links, bracelets, pins and other items of this sort that were often gifted to Elvis by family, friends and even fans. Included below is a copy of the money order with which I purchased the items from Patsy Gambill (her married name at the time) as well as a color copy of the handwritten letter from Patsy, dated October 25, 1988, describing the jewelry box and what it meant to Elvis.” The size 7 1/2 ring weighs just under 7 grams, and the large blood stone measures 14 x 10 mm. On the interior band are the jeweler's hallmarks and "Sterling" indicating the ring's silver content is 92.5%. The ring presents with moderate wear. Near Mint condition.
