Elvis Presley Signed and Handwritten Check Dated December 23, 1955 - A Rare Early Example Completely in His Hand!

Offered is an Elvis Presley signed and handwritten check dated December 23, 1955, made out for $310.77 to "Ed's Camera Shop" in Memphis, Tennessee. This early example, completely in Elvis' hand (WOW!) and signed "E. A. Presley," was written just two days before Christmas. Other records from the period indicate that Elvis spent of total of nearly $700 at Ed's Camera shop that week, so we imagine there were quite a few cameras in peoples stockings that year! He may have bought film cameras, as well. Elvis was flying high that holiday season having just signed with RCA weeks earlier. When this check was written, the Presley's were still renting their home at 1414 Getwell Drive, as indicated below Elvis' signature. They wouldn't move to their next home on Audobon Drive until Elvis purchased it in March 1956. The check's early vintage and handwritten nature make it one of the finest examples a collector can acquire. The check measures 8 1/4 x 3 inches and presents with expected cancellations but otherwise no serious defects. Stunning Near Mint condition.
