This interesting group of photos, negatives and transparencies capture images of Elvis Presley letting his hair down with friends at two of his favorite locations to play: The Memphis Fairgrounds and his local roller rink. In July of 1962, Elvis rented out the Memphis Fairgrounds on a number of nights for his private parties. He was home for the better part of a month before returning to Hollywood to begin filming It Happened at the World's Fair. The roller rink was a favorite hangout for Presley and his friends, and they would often play dangerous games of whipping each other around the rink in long human chains. Elvis loved to blow off some steam from his normal hectic movie and recording schedule. The offered group includes: 3 ½ x 3 ½ inch photo of “Elvis at Skating Rink 1960 with Jan” and its medium format negative; two 3 ½ x 3 ½ inch photos of Elvis with captain's hat and black driving glove with processing date stamp of “AUG 62” on their borders and both of their medium format negatives; two medium format negatives of a Dodge bumper car and the “Pippen” roller coaster; three 3 3/8 x 4 ¾ inch photos of Elvis in captain's hat with their corresponding same-sized black and white transparancies, plus one color transparancy of one photo. There are a total of 15 pieces. The transparencies are most-likely created at a later date, but the medium formate negatives appear to be original. Near Mint condtion overall, with a couple pieces just lesser.
