Offered is an especially impressive 11 x 14 news service photo of Elvis Presley admiring the brand new gates of Graceland. The photo was taken on April 26, 1957, just days after the installation of the new iron gates with their custom motif of Elvis' stylized image. He is captured in a common outfit for the period, jacket, dress shirt and slacks, but the tw- toned shoes are a lesser seen fashion choice--they are covered with images of himself and guitars! The photo was taken by Memphis newspaper photographer Bob Williams, as noted on the reverse with the name of the paper, "Commercial Appeal." Also present are various editorial markings and stampings from the period. News service photos are almost always seen at 8 x 10 inch size or smaller--this oversized example is very special. The photo measures 14 x 11 inches and presents Near Mint condition.
