Elvis had these Neostyle “Nautic” sunglasses custom designed for J. D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet to match his own glasses he was wearing at the time. Elvis owned a number of Neostyle sunglasses with his trademark “TCB” emblazoned on the arms. In addition to the Stamps members, glasses were made for others related to the group, including their manager Don Butler and the offered pair that were made for J. D. Sumner's daughter Shirley. The accompanying “Letter of Provenance” is signed by Shirley Sumner Enoch and dated 10/02/08. It reads in part “Description: Shirley Sumner Enoch's Glasses with Case. An eye-popping pair of gold metallic finish glasses with eyeglass, owned and worn by Shirley Sumner Enoch, daughter of gospel musician J. D. Sumner. The left stem has a “Stamps” logo printed on it in metal letters; the right reads “Shirley.” Offered are the metallic gold-toned Neostyle “Nautic” style frames sunglasses bearing the “Stamps” logo on the left arm with “130 Nautic 822 60/18” marked on its inside and “Shirley” applied to the right arm with “Neostyle / Made in Germany” marked inside. The “S” in the Stamps logo is in the shape of a treble clef. The glasses measure 6 inches in width and 5 ½ inches in length. The glasses are accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The prescription glasses show signs of moderate to heavy use, with the nose guards being slightly loose and the “NEO” normally printed on them worn off. Excellent condition.
