The offered autograph book was signed by Elvis Presley and his girlfriend Anita Wood during 1961 for a young Memphis fan Judy Whitehead. Judy was a young fan who like to watch Elvis and his friends play football in Memphis on occassion. She actually took some fairly well known photos of a few of the games. During one of the games Judy was able to get ELvis to put a beautiful signature on one of the pages of her autograph book. At that time, or perhaps another, she also was able to get Anita Wood to sign the book, as well. In addition to Judy's various classmates that have scribed the odd page, other Memphis music acts were added to the book, including Slim Rhodes (another Sun recording artist), his brother Dusty Rhodes and several other members of Slim's band The Mountaineers. Slim passed away just a few years later, in 1966. Judy also capture the autograph of Elvis' uncle Vester Presley, undoubtedly at the front gate of Graceland. Perhaps most interestingly, a young singer named Jimmy Tennant signed the book twice--this was before he changed his name to Jimmy Velvet!

Elvis and Anita broke up in 1962--that fact and that most of Judy's friends dated their missives 1961 date the book to that year. Also included is an 8x10 of Elvis and his friends playing football, printed at a later time with the names of the others in the photo. The photo has been signed by Willie (Bardahl) McDaniel. The book measures 6 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches and presents with heavy wear, some torn out pages and scuffs and dents to the cover. The autographs within, however, have been spared too much distress and present beautifully. Excellent condition.
