When Muhammad Ali was stripped of his boxing license and his world heavyweight title in 1967 for refusing to join the US Army's war effort in Vietnam. In response, Irish bareknuckle boxer Paddy Monaghan started a campaign to get Ali's boxing license reinstated. Monaghan oversaw a petition that accumulated 22,224 signatures, later wrote to US president Richard Nixon to plead Ali's case, and eventually grew so close to Ali that "The Greatest" frequently visited him and his family in their home in England. Monaghan actually worked in Ali's corner during two fights in the 1970s. He passed away in 2017.

Offered is a limited edition print entitled "The Peoples Champion" by bareknuckle boxer and artist Paddy Monaghan which has been signed by Muhammad Ali. Monaghan has also signed, hand numbered the print "20/850" and inscribed "To Carl, with Best Wishes." The poster is accompanied by its original “Certificate of Guarantee” from Paddy Monaghan, a print of a photo of Ali at the original signing session for the prints and a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The poster measures 15 x 23 inches and presents with little wear. Near Mint condition.
