Offered is a Nelson Mandela signed Easton Press edition of his book Long Walk to Freedom. The autobiography was first published in 1994 by Little Brown & Co. The book profiles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison. Under the apartheid government, Mandela was regarded as a terrorist and jailed on the infamous Robben Island for his role as a leader of the then-outlawed African National Congress. He later achieved international recognition for his leadership as president in rebuilding the country's once segregationist society. The last chapters of the book describe his political ascension, and his belief that the struggle still continued against apartheid in South Africa. In 2000, Easton Press produced the offered deluxe edition and a number of copies were signed by Mandela. This copy comes with its original Easton Press Certificate of Authenticity. The book is in MINT condition.

Also included is an original Republic of South Africa 1994 presidential election ballot. The Independent Electoral Commission, which supervised the election, printed ballots for use within South Africa and for South Africans residing abroad. Unused ballots were returned to the Commission after the election. Considerable thought went into the design of the ballot to reduce the risk of counterfeiting. Specifically, each ballot is individually numbered and printed in varying ink colors to form the background of the ballot. The ballot is framed to an overall size of 13 x 22 1/2 inches. Near Mint condition.
