Offered is an iconic original airbrush painting by Robert Grossman for John Lee Hooker's 1973 boxed set of 3 LPs John Lee Hooker's Detroit. The three albums contained 42 songs from Hooker's early recording sessions in Detroit, from 1948-1952. The painting, airbrush The work, airbrushed guache on illustration board, is a classic Grossman treatment of his subject matter, at once caricature, but also highly creative and celebratory. Grossman created the iconic poster for the movie Airplane!, was nominated for an Academy Award, and his artwork graced the covers of over 500 magazines. Rolling Stone issued a series of posters featuring Grossman's cover paintings of George W. Bush, Richard Nixon, Bob Dylan, The Who, Jerry Garcia, and Crosby Stills and Nash. The artwork measures 17 x 17 inches and is framed to an overall size of 24 x 24 inches. Near Mint to Mint condition.
