Both President Harry S. Truman and First Lady Bess Truman have signed the offered official 1946 Presidential Christmas Photo. The photo presents in its original matte folder, and features "Christmas 1946" printed in the lower center and shows the couple boarding the very first "Air Force One." The aircraft's official name was "The Flying White House," but it gained the nickname "Sacred Cow." The Sacred Cow carried President Roosevelt to the Yalta Conference in February 1945. The trip to Yalta was Roosevelt’s only flight aboard the aircraft before his untimely death in April 1945. Truman used the aircraft extensively during the first 27 months of his administration. On July 26, 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947 on board the Sacred Cow. This act, which became effective on Sept. 18, 1947, established the US Air Force as an independent service, making the Sacred Cow the “birthplace” of the US Air Force. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The 8 x 10 inch photo is in its original studio matte presentation. While there are some distresses below the matte, the presented portion of the photo is gorgeous. Technically Excellent, but presenting much better.
