The offered RIAA Gold Record Award is for Elvis Presley's 1963 LP Elvis' Golden Records Vol. 3 which included hits from 1960, 1961 and 1962. Five of the included A-Sides, "Stuck on You", "It's Now or Never", "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", "Surrender", and "Good Luck Charm" went to #1 in the U.S., and several other songs were Top 40 hits. As with the other titles in the series, which culminated in 5 “Golden Records” compilations, all singles on the record are certified by the RIAA as attaining gold status with sales of at least 500,000 copies. The award's plaque reads: “Presented to RCA RECORDS to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Dollars Worth of the RCA Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Elvis' Golden Records, Vol. 3.'” The album was released on August 11, 1963, and certified gold on November 1, 1966. The offered early white linen matte style award was produced at that time.. The award measures 17 x 21 1/2 inches and presents with only very minor wear to the wooden frame and some toning in the white matte area. Near Mint condition.
