“I Got Stung” is literally the final song Elvis Presley recorded prior to shipping overseas to Germany during his time in the U.S. Army. The session took place on June 11, 1958, at RCA Studio B in Nashville during a leave from Fort Hood. The song went to #1 in the UK after it's October 1958 release, and it was certified Gold on April 15, 1983. The offered RIAA Gold Record Award hails from that period, and its plaque reads: “Presented to Elvis Presley to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the RCA Records Single Record 'I Got Stung.'” The session featured Nashvile players Hank Garland, Chet Atkins and Bob Moore, as well as Floyd Cramer on piano, with Dj Fontana and the Jordanaires the only regular bandmembers present. The songs “A Big Hunk O Love,” “I Need Your Love Tonight” and “A Fool Such as I” were also recorded during the productive session. The award measures 13 x 17 inches and presents with only very minor wear to the wooden frame. Near Mint condition.
