Offered is an RIAA Gold Record Award for Elvis Presley's 1969 hit "In the Ghetto." The record was released on April 1, 1969, and certified gold by the RIAA on June 25, 1969. The offered award was produced in that period based on the early white linen matte style. The plaque reads: “Presented to RCA to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the RCA RECORDS Pop Single Record 'IN THE GHETTO.'” The song was written by Mac Davis, and it was Presley's first Top 10 hit in the United States in four years. As a major international hit, Presley included it in his setlist during his return to live performances at the International Hotel in Las Vegas in 1969. The award measures 13 ¼ x 17 ¼ inches and presents with only the most mild wear to the wooden frame and toning to the matte area. Near Mint condition.
