The offered RIAA Gold Record Award displays a plaque, mounted beneath a gold single with orange label, that reads “Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to commemorate the sale of more than one million copies of the RCA RECORDS single record ‘BURNING LOVE,’” all set against a white linen matte background. “Burning Love” is not only an iconic Elvis song, but has cemented its place in history with many remakes and references to the song stitched throughout the fabric of pop culture.

The next release following on the heels of the success of Elvis: As Recorded Live at Madison Square Garden was the single release of “Burning Love” with “It’s a Matter of Time” on side B. The single, reluctantly recorded by Elvis on March 28, 1972 in the RCA Hollywood Studio, quickly sold over a million copies upon its release on August 1, 1972. “Burning Love” is one of Elvis’ biggest hit singles and his last to reach the top 10 on American charts. The single was certified as a million seller by RIAA on October 27, 1972. Reaching million-selling status the year of its release allowed the RIAA gold record award to be issued that same year in 1972. The offered award measures 13 ¼ x 17 ¼ inches and presents with only the most mild wear to the wooden frame and toning to the matte area. Near Mint condition.
