The offered RIAA Gold Record Award was presented for Elvis Presley’s 1973 Soundtrack LP Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite. The soundtrack reached number on the Billboard album charts in 1973. The album was certified gold by the RIAA less than two weeks after its release on February 13, 1973. The soundtrack and the television special were recorded on January 14, 1973, at the Honolulu International Center in Hawaii. The broadcast went out to over 40 countries in Asia and Europe shortly after the taping, but NBC didn't show the concert until April 4, when it garnered an amazing 51 percent of the viewing audience and was their highest rated show of the year. The soundtrack features 24 tracks from the show and is a record of Elvis at the absolute peak of his performing powers.

Though the record was certified Gold in 1973, the offered award is of a slightly later production period in the late 1970s or early 1980s, based on the "floater" style, gold frame and black background matting. The plaque reads "Presented to ELVIS PRESLEY to Commemorate the Sale of More Than 500,000 copies of the RCA RECORDS Long-Playing Record Album 'ALOHA FROM HAWAII.'" The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with only minimal wear to the gold finish of the frame. Stunning Near Mint to Mint condition.
