The offered RIAA Gold Record Award was presented for The Beatles single "I Feel Fine," which was released on November 23, 1964, and included on the LP Beatles '65 released in the U.S. a few weeks later. "I Feel Fine" reached number one and stayed there for three weeks at the end of 1964 and beginning of 1965. Its b-side, "She's a Woman," also charted at number 4. "I Feel Fine" has the interesting historical distinction of being the first popular music song that uses feedback as an effect. That first distorted note of the song was an effect The Beatles discovered when John Lennon leaned his guitar against an amplifier. He and Paul McCartney dug it, and George Martin was able to capture the sound for the song's opening.

The song was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 31, 1964, but the offered award was created in the late 1970s or early 1980s based on the "floater" style, gold frame and black background matting. The award's plaque reads "Presented to THE BEATLES to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Copies of the CAPITOL RECORDS Single Record 'I FEEL FINE.'"

The award measures 13 x 17 inches and presents with just a bit of scuffing to the gold frame. Near Mint condition.
