The offered RIAA Gold Record Award was presented for The Beatles 1969 LP Abbey Road. The album was released on September 26, 1969, after being recorded from February through August that year at EMI Studios. The studios were actually renamed for the album. The album's recording was incredibly productive, largely because the band rededicated themselves to the process, going so far as to bring back original Beatles producer George Martin. It produced some of their finest songs, including number one hit "Something," by George Harrison. Abbey Road was number one on the US album charts for 11 weeks, and it sold 4,000,000 copies in its first 60 days.

The RIAA certified Abbey Road Gold on October 27, 1969, and the offered award was produced in that period, indicated by the early white linen matte design. The plaque reads "Presented to THE BEATLES to Commemorate the Sale of More Than One Million Dollars Worth of the APPLE RECORDS Long-Playing Record Album 'ABBEY ROAD.'"

The award measures 17 x 21 inches and presents with only very minor wear to the wooden frame. Near Mint condition.
