Offered is a 1956 Selcol "Elvis Presley Six String Guitar" that emanates from Dick Clark's personal collection. It is accompanied by its original COA from the December 2006 "Dick Clark Auction" in New York City. Dick's collection contained a great number of Elvis Presley items. These British versions of the popular "Elvis Presley Guitar" are lesser seen than the US "Emenee" branded versions.
Before the British toy manufacturer Selcol made The Beatles toy guitars that are so highly coveted by Beatles collectors, they were making hard plastic Elvis guitars, which are equally difficult to find. Inside the body the guitar is labeled with serial number 001012. The round label also indicates Selcol was the manufacturer and Styron was the brand of high impact plastic that was used. The top of the bridge has an inset-mounted illustration of Elvis, and the body has a raised plastic silver-toned Elvis Presley facsimile signature. The guitar face is constructed of white, oak brown and silver color plastic pieces; the guitar body is of a dark brown, marbleized plastic. The original black and red corded strap with a tassle end remains intact. The headstock is broken and has been re-attached with adhesive; two metal guitar strings have been replaced with the two originals. The guitar measures 32 x 11 inches. Excellent condition.
