Offered is a 1958 one sheet movie poster that announces “Elvis Presley / King Creole” with an image of Elvis smiling and snapping with his guitar that is set against a silhouette of Elvis in a romantic pre-kiss pose with his lovely co-star, Carolyn Jones.The story of A Stone for Danny Fisher featured Danny as a boxer in the suburb of Brooklyn, New York. The film was originally written for James Dean, but then it was shelved after his untimely death in September of 1955. In 1957, the idea of the film was resurrected and adjusted for the lead to be played by the wildly popular star Elvis Presley. The character of Danny was converted from a boxer to a musician to suit the new lead, the location was changed to New Orleans, the title was adjusted to King Creole, and a new film adaptation of the novel was born. King Creole was released by Paramount in July of 1958 and was a critical and commercial success as well as being one of Elvis’ favorite roles. The poster measures 27 x 41 inches and presents with great color but does have some dark scuffing on the borders, and there are several pinholes and other small holes. Excellent condition.
