Offered is a collection of Elvis Presley Luggage, Personal Effects and an Elvis SIGNED Purchase Document for the items that came directly from Elvis' estate. The group was offered in the legendary 1999 Graceland Archives Auction.
Prior to 1970’s “Second Season” of shows at the International Hotel in Las Vegas, Elvis spent two weeks in Los Angeles rehearsing with his band at the RCA studios on Sunset Boulevard. During this stay, he purchased several pieces of luggage at the Beverly Hills Luggage & Gift Shoppe. Offered are the receipt for that purchase dated 1/14/70, that is signed by Elvis Presley, and a paid statement for the $596.93 spent that references receipt of payment on 2-5-70 with check #7210. Also included is that very check from the Elvis Presley Payroll & Expense Fund made out to Beverly Hills Luggage and Gift Shoppe and signed by Joseph A. Hanks, one of Elvis’ accountants.
In addition to these three fabulous pieces of ephemera, this lot also includes a brown overnight bag with one large side pocket and two smaller pockets. Each section has a zipper closure, with the large compartment’s zipper containing lock mechanisms. Also offered is a brown zipper toiletry case, made in Germany, that contains a cuticle tool, mirror (still in original paper wrapping), nail file, plastic comb, metal lidded toothbrush bolder, cologne bottle, brush and two silver metal lidded containers; a pair of gold toed black dress socks (non-matching); and a white scarf. A great set for traveling in style. The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated and original letter of authenticity from the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction. These articles were offered in the 1999 sale as part of a larger lot. The luggage bag measures approximately 12 by 21 by 12 inches. The receipt, statement and check are framed as a display that measures approximately 18 by 16 inches. Near Mint condition overall.
