Offered is the only copy of this prototype mylar "ELVIS PRESLEY" neon magenta banner we have ever seen. It was created by specialty printer Flashbacks, Inc. for Elvis Presley in 1972, the same company that created the large 6-foot and 12-foot mylar banners used in Las Vegas. A small number of other, smaller mylar posters have been seen over the years, and they were generally thought to be used for promotional purposes at Elvis concerts during the period (and they certainly could have been), just like the large banners Flashbacks created. However, recent information from the owner of Flashbacks, Inc. indicate that these smaller pieces were, in fact, prototypes made at Colonel Parker's request. He confirmed that this piece was a prototype to be used either as a small banner or even as a design idea for the band of the straw hats that were sold at Elvis concerts at the time. On the reverse are two unused adhesive strips that could have been used for display. Our consignor doesn't remember the exact circumstances of acquiring this in Las Vegas at The Hilton, but they assured us that anything that wasn't nailed down was fair game! The band measures 20 3/4 x 5 inches and presents with minimal wear but does have a few mild creases from rolled storage. Excellent condition.
