Offered is an Elvis Presley ribbon style backstage pass used in the early 1970s that clearly identified the wearer as “Elvis on Tour / Show Member." This purple example maintains its small gold safety pin affixed to the back. After more than a decade spent in Hollywood starring in over 30 movies on the big screen, Elvis returned to his roots performing concerts in front of live audiences. After his comeback TV special and his set engagements in Las Vegas, the 1970s ushered in a new era for the King of Rock ‘n' Roll. The thrill of seeing Elvis in person had droves of fans flocking to his concerts and with so many clamoring to get a glimpse, it was essential to be able to quickly identify the tour team and crew. Backstage passes were instituted to do exactly that and often varied from tour to tour and venue to venue to prevent unauthorized access. The passes themselves varied in style from cloth and paper to ribbon types like this offering. The ribbon measures 6 by 2 inches and presents in Near Mint condition with the bold color.
