In November of 1956, Elvis and his cousin Gene Smith rented a Cadillac and took a road trip to Las Vegas. While in Vegas, Elvis met Liberace and also began dating Dottie Harmony, a Las Vegas singer and dancer who would later accompany Elvis to his pre-induction Army physical on January 4, 1957.

The collection is presented in a large and elaborate frame and includes:

  • Elvis Presley's Hertz Auto-matic International Charge Card, with the address at 3764 Hwy 51 S, Memphis, Tenn. contained in its original folded, full-color brochure;
  • Original yellow carbon “customer” copy of the Hertz rental agreement dated November 12, 1956 from this very trip; and
  • Yellow Hertz rental car windowed envelope with return address 660 Madison Ave., New York 21, NY postmarked March 30, 1961.

The receipt measures 7 3/4 by 7 7/8 inches, the envelope measures 4 by 7 3/8 inches, and the folded advertising brochure with Hertz credit card measures 3 3/4 by 7 1/8 inches . This period ephemera collection emanated from the 1999 Graceland Archives Auction (lot A178) and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated, quoted here. The group is now housed in an elaborate display measuring 27 x 27 inches. Near Mint to Mint condition overall.
