Offered is one of the most fundamental artifacts from Elvis Presley's life that we have ever offered--his signed Social Security Card, found in Vernon Presley's office by the staff at Graceland. Accompanying is a 1954 "Statement of Employee's Earnings" from Precision Tool Company in Memphis, Tennessee. Elvis first got a job at Precision in the summer of 1951, when Gladys' brother Travis Smith worked at the company. Elvis' Social Security Card emanated DIRECTLY FROM THE ARCHIVES AT GRACELAND, and was offered as Lot A-134 in the now legendary 1999 Graceland Archives Auction. The card lists "2600 Poplar Bldg. Suite 516, Memphis, Tenn. 38112," for his address--that was the address of the employment agency he used at the time.

The card and document are presented in an elaborate framed display measuring 35 x 38 inches, with Elvis' SS# "409-52-2002" diecut in huge numbers across the top. The frame includes a plaque with background information and several photos of Elvis from his career and before, in the places he would have needed his SS card to apply for a job. The signature on the card has faded a bit, but it is still legible. Accompanied by COA from the Graceland Archives and LOA from James Spence Authenication. Excellent condition overall.
