The offered group of signatures celebrates some of the most iconic characters from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. Characterized by its use of Technicolor, fantasy storytelling, musical score, and memorable characters, the film has become an American pop culture icon. It was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, but lost to Gone with the Wind, also directed by Fleming. It did win in two other categories: Best Original Song for "Over the Rainbow" and Best Original Score by Herbert Stothart. Often seen as one of the greatest films of all time, it is the most commercially successful adaptation of L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's fantasy novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Directed primarily by Victor Fleming (who left the production to take over the troubled Gone with the Wind), the film stars Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale alongside Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr and Margaret Hamilton.

This collection includes signatures of The Wicked Witch of the West, The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man, Munchkinland's "Town Crier" and The Munchkin Coroner! The group includes:

  • Margaret Hamilton handwritten and signed letter, on blank greeting card, matted for framing with two modern prints of photographs of Hamilton in her role as The Wicked Witch of the West. Includes original mailing envelope.;
  • Burt Lahr signed April 1964 Playbill for his play Foxy. Lahr passed away in 1967--he is considered one of the toughest Wizard of Oz signatures.;
  • Jack Haley signed check, dated 10-27-1975. The check is written from Haley's "Madera Ranchos, Inc." checking account. Haley had extensive real estate holdings and developed housing subdivisions in the central Californian community of Madera.;
  • Mickey Carroll cut signature "Mickey Carroll Wiz. of Oz." Carroll played Munchkinland's "Town Crier" in The Wizard of Oz. Accompanied by a copy of a photo of the collector who acquired the signature with Mickey Carroll.; and
  • Meinhardt Raabe signed copy of his autobiography Memories of a Munchkin: An Illustrated Walk Down the Yellow Brick Road. Signed "Meinhardt Raabe Coroner of Oz" at the August 2006 Hollywood Collectors Show in Orlando, Florida. Accompanied by a photo of the collector with Raab at the show.;

The group of signatures has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentic. Also accompanied by a VHS of the film. Near Mint condition with some pieces just lesser.
