Colonel Parker began a club with a group of his fellow promoters that he called the “Snowmens League,” a tongue-in-cheek reference to their trade, since the definition of the act of “snowing” someone is to “impress, deceive or persuade your audience.” Famous for their marketing skills, the Snowmen knew all the tricks, perhaps pulling a bit from all three categories, to orchestrate successful promotional campaigns. The honor of being called a “snowman” was bestowed on a tight group of clever individuals. Offered is a collection of Trude Forsher’s own membership ephemera including:

  • Trudy's membership certificate that states, “Snowmens League of America / Trude Forsher / Lifetime Member—Maybe? / Chief Potentate Col. Tom Parker / This Membership Can Be Cancelled At Any Time By Any Potentate Snower”;
  • Trudy's Membership Card, signed “Col. Tom Parker” that states in part, “This will certify that SNOWESS FORSHER is a Genuine Snower in good standing. This card can be signed Only by the High Potentate, and there is a chance it isn’t good even then. INTERMEDIATE SNOWESS”; and
  • Handwritten note on a sheet from a Beverly Wilshire Hotel notepad, measuring 5 1/2 by 4 inches, that reads in part, “Dear Colonel: We wish you a very wonderful birthday today. Good health, happiness and success always. I hope my little gift for the Snow Office arrived in time.…From the temporary Snowess.”;
  • Carbon copy, on both sides of a piece of Paramount Pictures letterhead, measuring 11 by 8 1/2 inches, which reads, in part, “...Life seems like one big snow job most of the time. But I do not feel like snowing unless I am at Snow-Head-Quarters. After all, one needs the right sort of equipment. Instead of a snowstorm we are having a heatwave, so you can see I feel quite out of my element. Respectfully yours, Temporarily suspended snoman first class apprentice of the special Alaska Brigade.”; and
  • Typed letter signed by Tom Diskin dated August 23, 1957, to Trude referencing a tiger she sent the Colonel as a gift.

Trude’s Snowmens membership certificate measures 5 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches, and her Snowmens League Membership Card measures 2 1/4 by 3 12 inches. Excellent to Mint condition overall.
