Offered is a die-cut press pass for the 1939 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds. The unique, die cut cardboard press pass badges were created especially for each Series and issued to only officially registered members of the press. While the well known World Series press pins are seen regularly in the hobby, these interesting printed press passes are not seen with any regularity. The 1939 Yankee Stadium press pass badge is for Games 1, 2, 6 and 7--though only games 1 and 2 are punched since the Yankees swept the Reds in four games. This press pass belonged to "Jerry Bronfield" of the NEA news service--his1939 World Series press pin is the next lot in this auction. With its original string. 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches. Intact but worn at edges with creases. Excellent condition.
