Offered is a New York Yankees press pin for the 1939 World Series, where the Yanks swept the Cincinnati Reds in four games. This was Lou Gehrig's last time to don a Yankee uniform after being named "non-playing Captain" by his teammates. Also included is a 1939 New York World's Fair pennant to which the press pin was attached for the last 80+ years. It is quite worn with condition issues. It is likely the reporter picked it up while in New York for the Series. This press pin belonged to "Jerry Bronfield" of the NEA news service--his die-cut cardboard press pass is the next lot in this auction. The pin measures 1 inch in diameter and presents with moderate wear. Excellent to Mint condition.
