Offered is a 1950-52 Wheaties Cereal Tin Tray Premiums near set of three including Stan Musial, Phil Rizzuto and Ralph Kiner. From 1950o 1952, these premiums from Wheaties were stuck right to the front of the box. Initially designated as a 1952 issue, further research shows that the promotion was advertised as early as 1950 in newspapers in Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin and New York (see newspaper ad at left). Jackie Robinson was the fourth tray in the set, but he doesn't even appear in the ads after the spring of 1950. Why he was discontinued is lost to history, but it explains why he is exponentially tougher than the other three. The ads can be seen as late as 1952 in the midwest states. Each tray measures 4 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches, and each has its original glue and cereal box remnants still in place, which we think is kinda nice! Excellent condition overall.
