Offered is a gorgeous example of a 1955 Elvis Presley signed and inscribed Sun Records promotional photo. The image is the classic portrait taken by William Speer at the direction of Elvis' then personal manager Bob Neal. Elvis has boldly signed "love ya Elvis Presley" on the reverse. The photo lists "ELVIS PRESLEY" on the lower left border and "160 Union Ave. Memphis, Tenn." on the right--the office address of Bob Neal and the original "Elvis Presley Enterprises." Speer took 11 different images during the photo shoot—although five other images were shirtless poses of Elvis prompted by Speer’s wife in response to the fact that Elvis had brought no change of outfit for the session. She may have had other motivations.
Elvis and other performers he appeared with in 1955 were very accessible, and Elvis was a very willing autograph signer. Ever the concientious signer, Elvis noticed the pen failing in his salutation "love ya" and made sure it was flowing properly to finish his beautiful bold signature. The photo is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Beckett Authentic. The signature remains extremely bold. The photo measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with some surface creases, some of which are larger, but the contrast of the photo is bold. Very little age-related fading. Excellent condition.
