Offered is a lesser-seen 1955 Elvis Presley Sun Records promotional photo, known as the "Tony Curtis" photo. Elvis could not have disagreed that Curtis was the inspiration for the smokey pompadoured look he adopted for this photo shoot! We see tons of the other various Sun Records promo photos used in 1954 and 1955, but this one rarely surfaces. It was acquired at a show in Tyler, Texas, as evidenced by the handwritten pencil notation on the reverse: "August 8, 1955 Elvis Presley, Scotty and Bill / J.E. Maxine Brown and Sister Bonnie." The boys played with the Browns at several shows promoted by Tom Perryman of radio station KSIJ out of Gladewater, Texas. The photo measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with several creases and corner folds and wear, but no significant distresses or paper loss. A gorgeous example of a very tough Elvis promo photo. Excellent to Mint condition.
