Offered is a superb example of the 1956 Elvis Presley Enterprises glass plate with gold trim and center design depicting a large gold Elvis in black outline playing guitar and singing, the image of which is set against black concentric circles to give the appearance of a record. The image of Elvis is that credited to photographer William Robertson’s depiction of a young Elvis from July 1955. This iconic image is the one of the most widely recognized, as it was used on his first album and in much of the merchandise produced in 1956. As with a lot of the merchandise that was created, it was meant for use and therefore most did not survive the test of time, much less those products more fragile in nature such as this plate. This incredible survivor with its gold-colored elements still in excellent condition was most likely more revered as a collectible than used for its functional purpose, enabling it to survive in such an impeccable state. The plate, marked “Copyright 1956 Elvis Presley Enterprises All Rights Reserved,” measures 12 inches in diameter and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Graceland Authenticated. The gold and black artwork remains intact, and the gold edge is intact as well. There are several white specks in the artwork area. Near Mint condition.
