Offered is a 1956 RCA Victor record store poster promoting Elvis Presley's self-titled debut album, Elvis Presley. "The Tonsils Photo", as it is affectionately known, became the image for the front cover of his first LP, and this early RCA promotional poster. The photo was taken on May 8, 1955, at a concert at the Fort Homer Hesterly Armory in Tampa, Florida. These posters are exceedingly scarce and is by far the toughest to find of all the Elvis Presley record store posters. The would have been sent to record retailers in support of RCA's newest star. The poster measures 17 x 22 inches and presents mounted on board with some damage to each of the border areas. The poster was folded several times and is now flattened out. The image of Elvis is still stunning with its sharp contrast. Presents well in matting. Very Good to Excellent condition.
