The offered medium format contact sheet's 12 images tell just about the whole story of the day of an Elvis Presley concert in 1956. This particular show took place on either August 3 or 4 of that year at Miami's Olympia Theatre (Elvis played SEVEN shows in two days!), and the press photographer started his day outside on the street and in the alley behind the theater getting several shots of the anxious concert goers waiting to get in. He proceeds to take a couple shots of lucky fans with Elvis backstage prior to the show, and goes on to document Elvis and the band, the crowd and even the marquee of the venue as the crowd streams out post-show in the final seven shots. It's like a documentary in 12 frames; our news photographer was incredibly efficient. He also captures four brilliant, crystal clear shots of Elvis performing that night. This is a wonderful artifact from this period of Elvis' touring life. On the reverse are news service stampings for "BOB EAST" in Miami and the "GILLOON AGENCY" from New York. The sheet measures 8 x 10 inches and presents with some moderate wear to the edges, especially in the lower right, where there is some creasing chipping and minor paper loss. Excellent condition.
