Offered is an original AP wire photo of Ted Williams that was used for card #79 in the 1959 Fleer “Ted Williams” set. The original caption reads:
BANGOR, MAIN, OCT. 20 – TED FINALLY FINDS THE RIGHT BAT – Ted Williams, Red Sox slugger and 1958 American League batting champion hefts the eight-foot bat presented him here in honor of his prowess with lesser bats in the ball parks. Proclaimed a modern-day Paul Bunyan, Ted stands in front of a picture of the legendary logger supposed to have been born in Bangor.
The photo measures 6 ½ x 5 ½ inches and presents with its original wire photo caption taped to the reverse. Excellent to Mint condition.
