Offered is one of Elvis Presley's signature deep red velour pullover's from the 1960's. These comfortable and stylish shirts were the height of mid-60's hip fashion, and Elvis can be seen wearing many variations of this style throughout the middle of the decade (see images at right). The period tagging in the collar reads "Custom Tailored for Elvis Presley". These special labels were added to many of Elvis' shirts, jackets, coats and other clothing in the period, and the labels can be found in many garments Elvis purchased at Lansky Brothers in Memphis. Elvis gave the shirt, among many other pieces of clothing, to his cousin Harold Loyd. Harold's accompanying letter on "TCB" letterhead reads in part "As you know, my name is Harold Loyd, Elvis and I are first cousins. I've worked the grounds of Graceland for as long as I can remember. I've met countless friendships with so many of Elvis' fans over the years. Over the years Elvis gave me and my family many gifts. That was Elvis' nature. He was a wonderful human being. and never forgot where he come from and what he owed his fans. This pull over red velour shirt with zippered front was worn by Elvis. It has his name inside of it. Elvis gave me this shirt in the middle 1960's when he was cleaing out his closet." The shirt is roughly a size medium, and the material remains supple to the touch, with the zipper in working condition. Near Mint condition.
