Offered is a one sheet movie poster promoting Elvis Presley's 1961 film Wild in the Country. In this film, released by 20th Century Fox in June 1961, Elvis plays Glenn Tyler, a troubled man from a dysfunctional family who tries sorting out his life by pursuing a literary career. Despite being a dramatic role and one that demonstrated Elvis’ serious acting talent, 20th Century Fox insisted on including four songs in the film.
The offered poster exhibits all the hallmarks of the successful formula that Elvis films had come to faithfully utilize. There’s our hero front and center, engaging in fisticuffs, racing cars and smiling as he “Sings of love to Hope Lange/Tuesday Weld/Millie Perkins.” After all, “It’s all about young people and their growing pains!” The plaque at the bottom of the frame reads, “Wild in the Country/One Sheet.” The poster measures 27 x 41 inches. Presents with one small missing piece in the upper left edge, pinholes, one small separation at one of the original factory folds. Small circular stains on reverse which only bleed through mildly. Very strong color. Excellent condition.
