Offered is Elvis Presley's screen-worn racing jumpsuit from his 1968 film Speedway. On the left breast of the jumpsuit is the name of Elvis' character, "Steve". Elvis played Steve Grayson, a race car driver whose financial mismanagement has led him to trouble with the IRS. Nancy Sinatra plays Susan Jacks, the IRS agent tasked to recover the debt who becomes Steve’s romantic interest.

Elvis can be seen wearing the offered "Hinchman" brand racing jumpsuit in several scenes in the film, particularly during the two award-stand scenes early in the film. In these scenes (see attached photos) the Velcro enclosure for the collar can be clearly seen, and the purposely distressed "dirty" areas above the zippered pockets are sprayed by the prop department in a pattern that can be nearly matched exactly. Furthermore, the name "Steve" is in the same exact stitched lettering and in the same location above the pocket on the left breast.

The 2004 Christie's catalog where the suit was offered said the following: "This piece was originally sold in the now famous 'Star Wardrobe' portion of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer auction which started on May 3, 1970, though it was not listed in the orange catalogue as it was offered on the last day, almost as a give-away." The legendary MGM sale included 1,000s of prop pieces, such as Dorothy's Ruby Slippers! The period "Hinchman" manufacturers tagging is intact in the collar. Also included are a custom fitted mannequin and replica black boots for displaying the suit. Former Pugliese Pop Culture Collection. The suit presents in intact condition, with "distress" added by the prop department. Near Mint condition.
