Offered is a rare, intact DOUBLE-SIDED satin banner that hung in the Las Vegas International Hotel during the Summer Festival of Elvis Presley concerts in 1970. Both attached banners read "ELVIS BIG 50 / RCA RECORDS," in reference to the album released in conjunction with his Las Vegas concerts that summer. The Colonel wished to capitalize on Elvis’ older material by compiling a four-LP box set release for a special price. This special four-LP set, Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits Vol. 1, would be released in August 1970 during Elvis' 1970 Las Vegas Summer Festival. The Colonel's marketing efforts during the Summer Festival were structured around the release and branded as "THE BIG 50." This phrase could be seen on satin banners literally all over the Las Vegas International Hotel and even on special gifts like lighters that the Colonel gave out to VIPs.
These banners are usually found in singles, either gold or other shades of orange and red, but rarely are they seen in this condition, still attached, back to back the way they were all over the Las Vegas Hotel. The banners measure 11 x 28 inches and present with little wear, bold colors and mild waviness from being rolled (stored flat now)-one small stain. Near Mint condition.
This lot has a Reserve Price that has not been met.
